Who I am![]() If you are not interested to read my working profile, jump directly to the section Q&A (you'll find it more interesting). Working experiences: I passed the last fifteen years (92-07) in the graphic and computergraphic field. I began my professional formation in the '92 in Agfa-Gevaert ; where, seen my title of study, I began as hardware technician of "CCD scanners" and "Film Recorders". Passed some years I have specialized my hardware and software background, related to everything that pertains to digital-prepress, thanks to many Agfa's training course of formation held in Belgium. Seen the increasing integration of HW and SW in this field, in few years I have specialized in the knowledge of a lot of desktop-publishing applications like: Photoshop, Freehand, Illustrator, PageMaker, Xpress, etc. etc. In order not to talk about the necessary knowledge, related to work-stations both Mac and PC. Passed some time I became a computer-graphic expert related to the color. I start to know professional scanners, I broadened my knowledge of the programs, and seen the request of the market I began to know also the first Rip software and Imagesetter used for film-output. This carried me to well know the immense field that pertains the PostScript language, the compatibility PS between programs, the management of the fonts and the functions of print in an operating System. Mine personal interest, carried me to deepen the knowledge of the operating System and Networking, until to reach the necessary mastery to install and support network servers both Windows than Unix. These are used like file server, print server, OPI server and Rip software. Everything without ever to leave the mine first love ... the CCD scanners. In fact towards the '96/'97 I became, after a specific training did in Denmark, one of the rare italian specialists for the Eskofot scanner, used for CopyDot applications. With the evolution of the desktop publishing and the birht on the market of the Computer-to-plate , the old Rip software evolved to actual Workflows totally digital. Therefore starting from the scanning of the images (scanner + photoshop), passing throught the creation of the graphic page (in Xpress) until the creation of the necessary plates to go into a press machine; all of the trial happens now to be inside of a workflow entirely digital, subdivided between workstations Mac/PC, and server Windows/Unix. It was natural therefore that my knowledge evolved following the market. In all these years my tasks working of technician of the graphic arts, spanned throught HW reparations, to SW configuration of systems and their calibration, until the education of the customers. I succeeded to specialize me, towards the '99, in the role of "Instructor". A last note for who's not working on this area. A workflow includes most of the necessary functions to let customers to be able to produce, manage and store its graphic jobs. It requires therefore a full knowledge of the graphic world, both Hardware and Software. Seen that "Prepress" will necessarily flow in the "Press", I did a training course related to offset printing (did at center for the professional formation graphic art "San Zeno" in Verona). Then in 2002 I continued another one directly to the seat of the KBA (produces presses for offset printing plains and rotative) in Radebuel, near Dresda. So today I can affirm to be able to manage a customer for all what pertains prepress and press. From 2002 "Application Engineer" for CREO in the area Field Operations, mainly I follow the Prinergy Workflow. Leader in the area for the systems Computer-to-Plate and related workflows based on PDF. After my begin in CREO I continued my specializations, specially for flexographic and Stocastc printing. I am one of the few specialists ViP (Value in Print) that CREO-Italy offers as excellent support of consultancy to customers that want to optimize in a better way, their press using stocastic screen(Staccato). In 15 June 2005 CREO-it inc. been acquired from Eastman Kodak. So at today I work for Kodak. From 1st September 2007 I moved to be a DSC (Digital Solution Consultant) for GCG division. In this new position I place side by side to the vendor during the phase of configurazion/customization of the deal done to customers. From 1st January 2009 DSC (Digital Solution Consultant) became PSC (Pre Sales Consultant). Personal interests: My personal interests are in first place mine splendid family, delight of my life; then to the music, to photography, to role-game (W D&D ... ) without leave a little bit of "c" and "html" programming (an old love; -), I'd like to underline that these pages are all developed using the wonderful "Windows Notepad". Q&A: (18 out of 18 under construction, please be patience. Meanwhile use the Italian version, please.) Reading my working story, surely yourselves asked... : "What is he damn talking about???" In the following Q&A, I'll try to give you a simple and complete explanation of my job: - What is AGFA doing? - What is a CCD scanner? - What is a film recorder? - What is the desktop-publishing? - What is a work-station? - What is a rip software? - What is an imagesetter? - What is the postscript language? - What is a font? - What is a network server? - What is the Copydot? - What is CREO doing? - What is a Computer-to-Plate? - What is a Workflow? - What is the offset printing? - What is the Flexographic printing? - What is the Stocastic printing? - What is Kodak doing? Feel free to contact me (see e-mail in Home-pages's bottom), if you want to add to this list some new questions, or underline some mistakes. Will be mine care, in the limit of mine possibility, give the simpliest and exhaustive replies. Phraselist: Hem... a last grain. I'd like to report the greatest of wisdom it populate, that I have heard in these years of attendance of the graphic field. Obviously these sayings must be considered, with the due irony, like of the be disgusted thoughts and a raw pó, of the workers that from years got ahead, how continue to do all today, the technical assistance. Sorry, but is hard to translate the following phraselist. if you don't understand Italian... simply skip it. :)
